 Exodus

The movie “Exodus” is one you must have seen and still remember vividly. As for the travel itinerary “Exodus,” I guarantee it will leave you in awe. In the travel industry, everyone says that Daystone DAY mind works in “black and white,” but little do they know that Dai Tunghua’s mind thinks even further—so much so that it reaches the skyline.
On July 6, Tunghua and Qiqi went on a business trip to Geneva, and from there, they embarked on the “Exodus” route, traveling all the way to Jordan.
Currently, Tunghua is in Cairo, Egypt. Yesterday, he visited the Mena House Hotel, where the Cairo Conference was held in 1943. He even toured the suite where Roosevelt, Churchill, and Chiang Kai-shek stayed during the conference.
The newly opened Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo is now the largest museum in the world and contains the most ancient artifacts from civilizations across the globe. The museum also houses items like toothbrushes, high heels, and condoms that are more than 3,000 years old. The Egyptians proudly proclaim: “Two-thirds of the world’s artifacts older than 3,000 years are in Egypt.”
Ladies and gentlemen, Daystone DAY is now 80 years old, and it’s time for him to pass the baton. I’ve visited Egypt nine times and Jordan four times, perhaps because older people have a deeper love for ancient civilizations. Now, there are three places I keep thinking about, places where I even imagine spending my twilight years: Cairo in Egypt, Xi’an in China, and Daqiu Island in Matsu.
Come, come, come! If you want to walk out of Egypt with Moses, let’s experience it together and reminisce about the past. In the old days, it was all done on foot—so exhausting, so difficult. But now, we have cars and air conditioning. So comfortable, so pleasant!
You might wonder what religion I believe in. I’ll tell you a secret: I believe in the “Ajuna Church” (it means “when Ah Juan calls”)…
As soon as Ah Juan calls, I immediately stand at attention and say: Yes!

Daystone DAY
July 13, 2024

In mid-July 2024, Tunghua scouted the “Exodus” route in the Wilderness of Moses (Wadi Rum Desert).

★Travel Features of This Itinerary★
The Seven Major Footsteps of Moses

★Footstep 1: Cairo
Cairo, known as “Iunu” in ancient Egypt, meaning “Gateway,” has a history that dates back 5,100 years. It is the capital and largest city of Egypt, and also the nation’s center for economy, transportation, and culture.
Pyramids: Approximately 4,600 years ago, the ancient Egyptians began constructing pyramids. Today, around 120 pyramids remain in Egypt, most of which are located near Cairo.
Egyptian Museum: Also known as the “National Museum of Egypt,” it was built in 1901 and is situated in Cairo, the capital of Egypt. The museum houses 120,000 artifacts from ancient Egypt and is one of the largest museums in Egypt.
Egyptian Museum of Civilization: Also known as the “Museum of Egyptian Civilization,” it is located in the ancient city of Fustat and has an exhibition area of approximately 23,235 square meters.
Mena House Marriott Hotel: The Cairo Conference of 1943 was held here, attended by significant figures such as Chiang Kai-shek, President Roosevelt, and Prime Minister Churchill. Not only is it historically significant, but it is also the closest hotel to the Giza Pyramid area.

★Footstep 2: Sinai Peninsula
This region borders the Mediterranean Sea to the north and the Red Sea to the east. It is a significant location in the Book of Exodus, where the Israelites wandered for forty years after leaving Egypt around 1250 BCE.
While most travel agencies enter Jordan from Israel, we offer a unique experience by taking guests from the Sinai Peninsula all the way to Jordan.
Mount Sinai: Also known as “Mount Moses” or “Sacred Peak,” it is located at the southern end of the Sinai Peninsula, standing 2,285 meters high. It is a legendary holy site for Christianity, Judaism, and Islam.
Saint Catherine’s Monastery: Situated at the foot of Mount Sinai, it is the location described in the Old Testament where God appeared to Moses in the burning bush and commanded him to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. It is also the site where Moses received the Ten Commandments from God.
Sinai Mountain National Park: Designated as a protected area in 1996, it covers 4,350 square kilometers, including Saint Catherine’s Monastery, Mount Sinai, and the surrounding natural ecosystems.

★Footstep 3: Crossing the Red Sea with Moses
Over 3,000 years ago, Moses led 2 million people across the Red Sea from Egypt. While they once crossed on foot, now we can easily take a ferry to experience the scene of Moses crossing the Red Sea.

Footstep 4: Wilderness of Moses (Wadi Rum Desert)
Here, the red sands illuminated by the sunset give it the name “Crimson Valley.” We will take a hot air balloon ride here to watch the sunrise, gaze over the Wilderness of Moses, stay in the world’s most luxurious desert tents, and stargaze at the night sky.

Footstep 5: Petra
Petra Ancient City: One of the New Seven Wonders of the World, with a history spanning 4,000 years. It was buried under sand for over 3,000 years until it was rediscovered in 1812, about two centuries ago. It ranks as one of the top two must-visit sites in the world, alongside the Pyramids.
Hayat Zaman Hotel and Resort: Stay in unique stone houses carved from natural rock in the desert. Truly distinctive and one-of-a-kind!

Footstep 6: Dead Sea
The salt content in the world’s oceans is only 3.5%, but in the Dead Sea, it is nearly 30%! A visit to the Dead Sea should include enjoying a Dead Sea mud treatment and floating on the water while reading a magazine, such as “Traveling with the Chairman in Taiwan.”
Mount Nebo: From this location, Moses viewed the “Promised Land” that he would never enter but was given to the Israelites. It is also the site where he is believed to have passed away.
Bethany Beyond the Jordan: This is the site where Jesus was baptized. It was designated a World Heritage Site in 2015 and includes Tell al-Kharrar and the Church of St. John the Baptist.

★Footstep 7: Amman
Jerash Roman Ruins: Established 4,000 years ago, it is still over four millennia old and is hailed as the “Rome outside of Rome.” It is recognized worldwide as one of the largest and best-preserved Roman ruins outside of Italy.

Travel Information Introduction

Photos of attractions and meals are for reference only.

Exodus

I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees you’ (Job 42:5). This journey will take you through the significant biblical scenes in Egypt and Jordan, witnessing the journey of Moses in the Exodus and the splendor of millennia-old religious civilizations. The stories once heard will no longer remain in texts, but you will personally step onto the historical footprints and experience the unique charm of Egypt and Jordan.

Egypt

Apart from the vivid impressions of ancient civilization like the pyramids, pharaohs, and Cleopatra, Egypt also boasts many royal-level hotels, restaurants, and riverboats. On this trip, we will not only take you to explore Egypt’s famous attractions but also let you experience the luxurious hotels and restaurants frequented by heads of state and celebrities.

Giza Pyramid Complex

The pyramids protect the pharaohs as they transition from mortals to gods and ascend to the heavens. Their immense power compelled successive pharaohs to invest considerable wealth, labor, and effort into their construction. The Giza Pyramid Complex, located on the Giza Plateau near Cairo, was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979 and was honored as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World on July 7, 2007. In front of the majestic Giza Pyramids, we have specially arranged for two camels, allowing you to ride them for a memorable photo opportunity.

The second pyramid is the tomb of King Khafre, the son of Khufu, built around 2650 BC, making it 4,667 years old. Due to its elevated position, its architectural form is even more perfect and spectacular. Let’s enter the pyramid and explore its mysteries.

Saladin Citadel

The Saladin Citadel began construction in 1176 AD and is situated on top of the Muqattam Hills in Old Cairo, Egypt. The citadel is like a miniature city, featuring not only the Al-Nasir Muhammad Mosque but also a police museum, a military museum, and other buildings.”

9 Pyramids Lounge

9 Pyramids Lounge, located near the Giza Pyramids, opened in 2020 and is the first restaurant situated right beside the pyramids. Covering an area of approximately 405 square meters, it offers both indoor and outdoor seating. Dining here allows guests to overlook the nine magnificent pyramids, providing an impressive experience of the grandeur of these historical monuments.

Sphinx

Located next to the Pyramid of Khafre, the Sphinx was built around 2558–2532 BC, making it approximately 4,500 years old. Between its massive paws lies a granite slab known today as the ‘Dream Stele,’ which records how it was once buried beneath shifting sands.

Mena House Hotel 139 Restaurant

During World War II, the Cairo Conference was held here, attended by British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, Chiang Kai-shek, and U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt. The Mena House, the century-old palace hotel closest to the pyramids, was transformed from an old palace. It was here that Churchill hosted the Cairo Conference. Many famous personalities, including American entrepreneur Bill Gates, renowned detective novelist Arthur Conan Doyle, and comedian Charlie Chaplin, have stayed here. A visit to Mena House wouldn’t be complete without dining at the 139 Restaurant, which features a garden landscape with a shallow pool reflecting the famous Khufu Pyramid. The combination of fine cuisine and stunning views creates a romantic atmosphere, making it an invaluable dining experience.

Memories Aicha Luxury Camp

On April 3, 2021, the museum held the globally sensational ‘Pharaohs’ Golden Parade,’ transporting a total of 22 ancient Egyptian mummies (18 pharaohs and 4 queens) from the old Egyptian Museum to the new museum. The museum officially opened to the public the following day.

Egyptian Museum

Also known as the ‘Egyptian National Museum,’ it was built in 1901 and is located in Cairo, the capital of Egypt. The museum houses 120,000 artifacts from ancient Egypt, making it one of the largest museums in Egypt.

In addition to mummies and the famous golden mask of Tutankhamun, the most impressive artifacts include a high heel shoe, a toothbrush, and a condom. These inventions date back three thousand years, and we continue to improve and use them today. The ancient wisdom of Egypt is truly remarkable.

Saint Sergius and Bacchus Church

Located in Old Cairo’s Coptic area, the Saint Sergius and Bacchus Church is the oldest Christian church in Egypt, dating back to the 4th century. According to the Gospel of Matthew, King Herod ordered the massacre of all young boys in Bethlehem, and the Virgin Mary fled to Egypt with the infant Jesus, supposedly residing in the crypt beneath the church.
The church is dedicated to Saints Sergius and Bacchus, 4th-century Christian soldiers who were martyred in Syria by the Roman Emperor Maximian. It is traditionally believed that the church was built over the dwelling place of the Holy Family during their time in Egypt.
According to tradition, Joseph was instructed by an angel to take his wife Mary and the infant Jesus to Egypt to escape. It is said that when they arrived in Egypt, they rested at this location. They likely stayed here for some time, with Joseph working nearby in the Babylon Fortress to support the family. As a result, this church holds special significance in Christian history, and many bishops in the Coptic area have been chosen from this church.

Place where Jesus took refuge

Legend has it that the Virgin Mary once took refuge with the infant Jesus in the crypt beneath the site of the Saint Sergius and Bacchus Church.

Hanging Church

The Hanging Church, also known as the Church of St. Mary, is referred to locally as El-Muallaqa, which means ‘suspended.’ Built in the 3rd to 4th century, it has a history of over 1,500 years and is one of the oldest churches in Egypt. The church is situated above the walls of the southwest gate of the Babylon Fortress in Old Cairo. Upon entering the church from the right side, visitors can see the suspended city walls below through the glass. The main body of the church is suspended over an archway, giving it the name ‘Hanging Church.

Sahaba Mosque

The Sahaba Mosque is the most spectacular building in Sharm El Sheikh, designed by Fouad Tawfik. It incorporates elements of Fatimid, Mamluk, and Ottoman styles in its architecture and interior design. Let’s capture beautiful memories in front of its unique architectural form.

The unique reddish-brown color of Petra’s rocks has earned it the nickname ‘Rose City,’ adding a touch of romance to this ancient city. This time, we will enter the ‘Sleeping Rose City,’ allowing you to leave your footprints in this millennium-old heritage site. Its ancient architectural features have made it a popular filming location for many movies, such as the ‘Indiana Jones’ series and ‘Transformers.

Petra’s Al-Khazneh Temple

Referred to as the ‘Treasury’ by the local Bedouins, Petra’s Al-Khazneh Temple is said to contain treasures at its peak, which is how it got its nickname. It is one of the most exquisite temples of the ancient world. This site was also a filming location for the third installment of the ‘Indiana Jones’ series, where the classic scene searching for the Holy Grail took place. The Greek-style architectural facade is entirely carved from rock, and the temple displays different colors depending on the angle of sunlight, adding a touch of romance to the atmosphere.

Wadi Musa Stone

The Bible recounts the story of Moses striking the rock twice to bring forth water, with the second occurrence happening in the wilderness of Jordan, near the ancient city of Petra (Exodus 17:1-6). As a result of this action, God did not allow Moses to enter the Promised Land, and he passed away in Moab at the age of 120. Why did this happen? Let the guide explain it to you.
